In addition to their volunteer hours, CRH Volunteer Services also annually presents a gift to the hospital. This year’s $45,000 gift was given toward the construction of a “discharge transition area” near the Emergency Department. This remodeling improvement will allow a comfortable space for ambulatory patients to await diagnostic results and a private area to receive discharge instructions. This area will assist with patient flow and will help to reduce wait times in the Emergency Department.
The group also donated $1,168 for materials and equipment for the creation of a gift given to every patient admitted to the hospital, and $427 in floral décor that enhances CRH lobbies and waiting areas.
“I am extremely grateful to our dedicated volunteers who give their time, talent and expertise to furthering our mission of improving the health and well-being of the people we serve,” said CRH CEO Jim Bickel. “The contributions of our volunteers truly make a significant difference and are deeply appreciated.”
The volunteer group funds its annual donation through hospital gift shop sales and other fundraising efforts. All profits from the CRH gift shop go to Volunteer Services.
“Each volunteer brings their available time, work, and skills in the most dedicated and generous manner, with the intention of enhancing the work of the employees, and for the ultimate purpose of making each person’s encounter with Columbus Regional Hospital, whatever that may be, a most comfortable, comforting experience,” said Laura Hurt, Director of Volunteer Services.
