Primary Care Practices Achieve National Recognition

Columbus Regional Health Physicians and eight primary care physician practices have achieved national recognition for outstanding Patient-Centered Medical Home practices.  The recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is for these physician practices with Columbus Regional Health Physicians:

- Columbus Adult Medicine
- Columbus Family Medicine
- Columbus Internal Medical Associates
- Doctor’s Park Family Medicine
- Kavelman Family Medicine
- Nashville Family Medicine
- Rau Family Medicine
- Sandcrest Family Medicine

NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality.  The national recognition is an independent review verifying these primary care practices are delivering high-quality, patient-centered medical care.  There are 30 primary care physicians and six nurse practitioners within these practices.

“The NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) is a model of 21st century primary care that combines access, teamwork and technology to deliver quality care and improve health,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane.  “NCQA’s PCMH Recognition shows that these practices with Columbus Regional Health Physicians have the tools, systems, and resources to provide their patients with the right care at the right time.”

“Our physicians are using the Patient-Centered Medical Home approach to provide coordinated, holistic care and long-term healing relationships for patients, instead of the more traditional approach of episodic care,” said Dr. Joseph Sheehy, primary care physician and Primary Care Medical Director.  “We are seeing better health outcomes for our patients, quicker access for appointments, and overall improved experience as we understand the importance of a strong physician-patient relationship.”
