Columbus Regional Health’s Lung Institute now offers a Lung Screening Program. The screening includes a low-dose CT scan of the chest for eligible high risk patients including:
- Patients age 55-74 with at least a 30 pack a year smoking history who continue to smoke or who quit less than 15 years ago
- Patients age 50 or older with at least a 20 pack a year history and at least one additional risk factor (occupational exposure, residential radon exposure, cancer history, family history of lung cancer, CPOD, pulmonary fibrosis, or history of lung disease)
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among both men and women in the U.S.
