Outpatient Diabetes Services moves to new location

Columbus -   Columbus Regional Hospital's Outpatient Diabetes Services has moved to a new location. Now located on the first floor of the hospital, the program had been located at the Volunteers in Medicine building at 836 Jackson Street since July 2008.

"It's nice to be back," said Lucina Kessler, ACNS, BC, CDE, Outpatient Diabetes Services program coordinator. "We have more space, more resources, and extended hours."

Accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators, Columbus Regional Hospital's Outpatient Diabetes Services offers individual appointments with diabetes specialists, educational classes, insulin pump training, gestational diabetes programs, and more.

According to the National Institutes of Health, about 23.6 million people in the United States have diabetes. Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death. Complications associated with diabetes include heart disease, stroke, nerve damage, blindness and kidney disease.

To visit Outpatient Diabetes Services patients must be referred by a physician. For more information call 812-376-5709 or visit www.crh.org/services and click on Diabetes Services.
