Dr. Jason May named Chief of Staff

Columbus -   Jason May, MD, was recently named Columbus Regional Hospital chief of staff.

Nominated by his peers and voted into office by the active medical staff, Dr. May will serve a two-year term. Dr. May has been chief of staff-elect for the past two years. He succeeds Rick Shedd, MD, who recently completed a two-year term and moves into the past chief of staff role. David Thompson, MD, was named chief of staff-elect, and will fill the chief of staff position in 2013.

"Dr. May's primary role as chief of staff will be to serve as medical and administrative leader of the medical staff. This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of physician credentialing, quality monitoring  and serve as liaison to hospital administration," said Thomas A.  Sonderman, MD, VP & Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. May joined the Columbus Regional Hospital medical staff in 2003. He is an emergency medicine physician with Emergency Physicians Inc of Columbus. He graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed his residency at Indiana University Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Shedd joined the Columbus Regional Hospital medical staff in 1992. He is a surgeon with Southern Indiana Surgery. He graduated from Indiana University Medical School and completed his residency at Indiana University Medical Center.

Dr. Thompson joined the Columbus Regional Hospital medical staff in 1998. He is a surgeon with Southern Indiana Surgery. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his residency at University of Kentucky Medical Center. He completed a fellowship at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
