Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) has partnered with Columbus Regional Health as their exclusive provider of sports medicine and athletic training services.
As part of the partnership, Columbus Regional Health provides athletic trainers for BCSC high school and middle school athletic programs. Columbus East High School and Columbus North High School each have two full-time athletic trainers working with student athletes at the schools, with some athletic trainer coverage also provided at the BCSC middle schools.
“We are pleased to work with Columbus Regional Health on this new partnership to give our student athletes the very best athletic training and sports medicine services,” said Bill Jensen, BCSC director of secondary education. “We understand the importance in having dedicated athletic trainers to meet the injury prevention and treatment needs for our coaches and student athletes.”
The new partnership will also extend services such as concussion screening and management to student athletes. Many school corporations are moving to a similar contract approach with one exclusive sports medicine provider.
“Our Sports Medicine Team includes athletic trainers, physical therapists, physicians and other specialists who work with students and parents to get athletes back in the game as quickly and safely as possible,” said Sue Woosley, CRH director of rehabilitation services.
