School of Radiologic Technology

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
At Columbus Regional Hospital School of Radiologic Technology the entire staff of the Radiology Department participates in the clinical training of our students.

The program course is 24 months, beginning in July of each year. Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded a certificate and are eligible to take the registry examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Passing this examination allows the graduate to seek employment as a registered radiologic technologist and to use the designation R.T.(R).

The Columbus Regional Hospital School of Radiologic Technology is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, 20 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 2850, Chicago, IL 60606-3182.
Phone: (312) 704-5300.  Email: mail@jrcert.org.   JRCERT promotes excellence in education and enhances quality and safety of patient care through the accreditation of educational programs.

 • If selected as a student, pass a criminal background check.  This is required of all healthcare workers having direct patient contact.

Note:  Conviction of a misdemeanor or felony may indicate lack of good moral character for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists’ (ARRT) purposes.  Pre-application review procedures are in place to allow individuals who are not yet enrolled in an educational program to determine if a conviction would interfere with exam eligibility.  www.arrt.org

Completion of the Admission Requirements does not guarantee admission into this highly competitive program.  Selection is based upon courses and grades in the applicant’s background, SAT score, aptitude test score, and reference checks.  An interview process for the top scholastic candidates will be conducted as well.

*Courses in Progress
The deadline for submission of all application materials is April 1; however applicants who have a required college course “in progress” at the time of application will be allowed to apply with documented evidence of enrollment in that course from their college.  In the event that a student is accepted under these circumstances, the acceptance will be contingent upon completion of all required courses by the end of the current Spring semester with an acceptable grade as stated above.  Students with all required courses completed and grades issued prior to the deadline of April 1 may have an advantage over those who have not yet completed all the required courses at the time of application.

ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE
Applications are not mailed to prospective students nor are they available online.  A prospective student must set up an appointment with the Program Director, participate in an aptitude test, and tour the facilities on a designated weekday morning prior to March 15 of the year he/she wishes to attend the program.

Upon completion of the above, the qualified applicant will receive an application to submit for admission to the School of Radiologic Technology. As a reward for those student who do not miss any days during a quarter, they will be allowed to take the entire 5 days consecutively during the 13th week of that quarter.  No didactic classes will be scheduled during that week so that the student can take the time off to rest and recharge for the next quarter.  Days may not be held over into the next quarter.
