Health Tip: Switching to a 'Big Kid' Bed
(HealthDay News) -- It's a milestone in your child's young life when he or she transitions to a "big kid" bed.
The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests these tips to make the transition safe and smooth:
Ask your child to stay in bed until you come back to wake the child in the morning.
If your child gets out of bed, calmly take the child back to bed and remind the child to stay there. Don't let the child get into bed with you.
Praise your child for getting back into bed, then leave the room.
Offer reassurance by telling the child that you'll come back to check on him or her while asleep.
