Medical Staff Definitions

Active Staff
Doctors, dentists, and podiatrists who actively practice at Columbus Regional Hospital and admit patients and write medical orders.

Consulting Staff
Members of the consulting staff are medical specialists who are appointed for the specific purpose of providing consultation in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and the administration of clinical departments. They do not admit patients to Columbus Regional Hospital.

Courtesy Staff
Members of the courtesy staff are doctors, dentists, and podiatrists who are eligible for active staff membership, but wish to make only limited use of the facilities at Columbus Regional Hospital, or who reside outside Bartholomew County and practice primarily outside Bartholomew County and do not wish to assume active staff membership.

Referring Staff
Members of the referring staff are doctors, dentists, and podiatrists who wish to make only limited use of the facilities at Columbus Regional Hospital. They do not admit patients or write medical orders for patients at Columbus Regional Hospital, but they may refer patients to this hospital and they may write histories, physicals, and progress notes on patients they have referred to this hospital.
