Ambulance Service at Columbus Regional Hospital

If you are an EMS professional considering a change in employment, look at Columbus Regional Hospital. Our progressive ambulance service is the contracted 911 provider in Bartholomew and Brown Counties. Each 911 and interfacility unit is staffed at the ALS level and the convalescent unit is staffed at the BLS level.
Staffing, Shift Patterns, and Compensation
CRH offers a variety of hours to provide optimal coverage and to suit the employee needs including 24’s, 12’s, and 8’s.
- PRN staff are expected to be available 16 hours per month.
- Uniform items provided include: shirts, fleece jacket, winter coat, and pager. Employees provide black footwear and black EMS or military style pant.
- Pay is competitive and experience is compensated. All part-time and full-time staff qualify for a very good benefit package.
- Because PRN employees do not qualify for the hospital benefit package, they are paid an additional 15%.
Our Ambulances and Equipment
We offer some of the most advanced technology available including:
- Fleet of 10 type 3 ambulances primarily utilizing the Braun Chief XL
- Zoll E series cardiac monitors with 12 lead, ETCO2, Pulse Oximetry, NIBP.
- Image Trend digital documentation system, no redundant paperwork.
- Computerized GPS and GIS mapping in ambulance.

Staff Education CRH is a state certified EMS training center and we offer education programs to our staff at no cost and required employee education time is paid.
- Medics are required to maintain, CPR, ACLS, PHTLS, PEPP, EVOC
- Advanced EMT’s are required to maintain, CPR, PHTLS, PEPP, EVOC
- Basic EMT’s are required to maintain, CPR, PHTLS, PEPP, EVOC
- Additionally the state refresher course is available each year to our staff.
- Orientation consists of a 3 day hospital and 5 day EMS orientation followed by precepting on the ambulance.
LifeLine
LifeLine Critical Care Transport has established an emergency helicopter service in Columbus, using the helipad at Columbus Regional Hospital, to provide 24/7 emergency air medical services to patients in south central and southeastern Indiana. LifeLine is a recognized leader in air medical transport and has been serving Indiana for more than 25 years

Regional EMS Training Center At CRH, we believe that education and attitude are the keys to quality patient care. Columbus Regional Hospital EMS Education Department, in cooperation with the Indiana EMS Commission, serves as a certified Training Institution. We strive to provide quality and timely instruction in the field of pre-hospital care.
Columbus Regional Hospital is certified by the state of Indiana EMS Commission as a Training Institution. In this capacity, we serve south central Indiana by conducting First Responder, EMT-Basic, Advanced EMT, and Paramedic courses. All courses are taught by state - certified Primary Instructors.
In addition, we also conduct CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Certified Emergency Vehicle Operators Course, Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals, Pre-Hosptial Trauma Life Support, EMS Refresher Courses, and Continuing Education.

In 2006, CRH EMS was part of the Air Force 2 motorcade to provide medical assistance if needed during Vice President Dick Cheney's visit to Camp Atterbury. |
