Columbus Regional Health's Rehabilitation Center offers the region's most comprehensive range of rehabilitation services. Our team of rehabilitation experts provides the right combination of therapies to restore function, maximize quality of life, and promote overall wellness. The rehabilitation staff work together as a team with you and your physician to provide the appropriate treatment, whether inpatient, outpatient or elsewhere in the community.

Inpatient Rehabilitation Services

Inpatient rehabilitation services at Columbus Regional Hospital provide comprehensive care for patients within the hospital.

Acute Inpatient Unit:
The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Columbus Regional Hospital is a specialized unit dedicated to people recovering from strokes, amputations, brain and spinal cord injuries, orthopedic procedures and other debilitating conditions. Patients include those who are still medically fragile, have severe functional impairments, required post-operative care, and need the 24-hour medical support of a hospital facility. High intensity medical management, nursing and rehabilitation therapies are provided daily to meet patient's needs. Therapies include:

Our outpatient rehabilitation services have earned the Outcome of Excellence Award from Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes, Inc. (FOTO) since 2009. We continue to improve patient's function better than predicted with a ranking in the top quartile and a patient satisfaction of 98%.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy Services focus on treatment to maximize function for the involved individual to return to normal daily activities with self-care, home management, work and leisure activities with an emphasis on the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. This is accomplished through pain control and decreasing swelling, increasing movement and strength, preventing re-injury and providing patient education.

Neuropsychology / Rehabilitation Psychology

This specialty service provides evaluation and treatment for cognitive deficits including changes in memory, concentration, organization, reasoning, language perception, coordination, and personality.

  • Neuropsychological evaluations to assess for cognitive changes and provide treatment recommendations

  • Brief psychotherapy and family education for individuals who have sustained neurological injuries (i.e. stroke, brain injury, etc.)

Speech-Language Pathology

Speech-language pathologists work with individuals of all ages who may have a variety of speech, voice, fluency, swallowing, language, or cognitive disorders (difficulty with thinking, reasoning, judgement, and memory).

These problems can be caused by stroke, brain injury, development delay, cleft palate, hearing loss, emotional problems, autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, and genetic syndromes. Therapy is provided for toddlers through adults.

Speech therapy includes the evaluation and treatment of:

Cancer Rehabilitation

Columbus Regional Health is dedicated to helping cancer survivors function at the highest level possible. Through our STAR Program® (Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation), our goal is to minimize side effects caused by cancer treatments and to encourage cancer survivors to have the best quality of life possible. The STAR Program provides patients with coordinated cancer rehabilitation supported by a team of STAR Certified™ clinicians and providers. Our cancer rehabilitation program is offered by a group of trained professionals who successfully completed the STAR Program Certification Course. The Wellness Program

The Wellness Program through Columbus Regional Health offers supervised programs and a fitness facility that can serve as the next step after rehabilitation for people to continue to benefit from low-level strengthening and conditioning.
