"Today we had a 10-year-old patient who was obviously very nervous about getting an IV placed for the first time. I walked into the exam room to witness Madison sitting at the bedside talking with the patient. She had an extra angiocath and was both showing the patient (and mom) what it looked like, how the 'straw' would stay in his vein, and explained all the things nursing can do with having this in. With each step of starting the IV, she explained what she was doing and what he should expect. I stood in the room to listen to her, and I could tell that it made both the patient and the mom feel comfortable and confident in her ability to perform this task. It is always a pleasure to work with Madison and she is always very good with patients, families, and staff, but it is moments like this that make her stand out."
