CRH Workforce Spotlight: Patty Gabbard

Patty Gabbard_rsz

Patty Gabbard has worked as a certified medical assistant at Columbus Pediatrics for 28 years. While most of that time has been spent working in the practice, due to COVID she spent most of the last year working in various locations as needed. At the onset of the pandemic, she worked at the respiratory clinic at Family and Internal Medicine. She also worked at the drive-through COVID testing site at Columbus Regional Hospital and administered vaccinations at our COVID Vaccine Clinic. “I’ve done a lot and met a lot of really great people,” she said. She has enjoyed being able to help out where needed.

When asked why she has worked in the same role at the same location for 28 years, Patty said she has a “very strong dedication” to Columbus Pediatrics. She respects and admires the physicians she supports and is passionate about the work she does, adding that “it makes a difference.” Since starting at the practice 28 years ago with the practice’s founding doctors, she feels a sense of obligation and responsibility to the team. That obligation extends to all aspects of Columbus Regional Health and not just the practice where she works. “It’s everyone’s job to do everything we can for our community and for patients,” she said.

Patty has worked in other medical specialties, but she really enjoys pediatrics – from the interactions she has with children and their parents to the team she gets to work with every day.

While COVID has been challenging, she is grateful for the opportunities she has had to work with other teams. “We have tremendous groups working at Columbus Regional Health. There’s a lot of teamwork that goes on behind the scenes, and it’s amazing.”

We’re glad you’re part of the CRH team, Patty!
