TRAINING AND GROWTH

The Nurse Residency program at Columbus Regional Health is designed to provide a seamless transition from classes and testing into the work environment.

The program, along with our nurse preceptors, helps integrate new nurses into the workforce and their specific roles.

Our on-site Simulation Lab provides hands-on and continuing education training. Clinical teams use programmable human-like mannequins in simulated patient environments to create real life healthcare scenarios.

Columbus Regional Health’s Clinical Talent Office helps workforce members identify areas and plans for growth within our organization, and educational sponsorship programs for degree advancement provide nurses the opportunity to elevate their careers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Nursing Shared Governance Committee sets the standards for nursing practice and goals for excellence at Columbus Regional Health, which aims to foster an environment of ownership and accountability.

Our recent initiative to offer single-bed rooms allows for a more optimal and private care delivery setting. Also, our newly-implemented electronic medical record system powered by Epic is helping transform patient care inside and out of the hospital walls with tools that help you focus on what’s best for the patient.

SAFETY

Workforce safety is a top priority of our organization, and the safety of direct caregivers is certainly no exception.

For example, we offer an extensive safe patient handling system of Arjo equipment and ongoing training to reduce caregiver injury risks.

Programming and initiatives around situational awareness, life safety and workplace violence are designed to keep our staff informed and prepared.  

Our workforce safety program also offers consulting and support on ergonomics, environmental and occupational health in the workplace.
