da Vinci Robotic Surgery

Robotic surgery has grown significantly at Columbus Regional Health in recent years. Starting as what seemed like a novelty, CRH surgeons now use the daVinci Robot as a standard of care.

Today, seven surgeons are trained on the daVinci Robot, regularly performing 17 robotic surgery variations.

Robotic surgery is used in many specialties including Bariatrics, General Surgery, Gynecology and Urology. Procedures include appendectomies, gastric bypass surgeries, hysterectomies, and prostate surgeries.

The cross-discipline approach allows daVinci-trained surgeons to collaborate and create best practice procedures for robotic surgery at CRH.

The benefits to the patient are significant. Robotic surgery allows surgeons to operate through small incisions, which means less pain, less bleeding, less time in the hospital, and faster recovery for patients.

There are also benefits for surgeons. Robotic surgery offers maximum precision, better maneuverability in confined spaces of the body and much better visual access to the surgical field. It also allows surgeons to sit during long, difficult procedures.

The growing list of CRH surgeons currently using the daVinci Robot includes:

CRH is looking forward to continuing to grow the list of trained surgeons and the list of procedures using the daVinci Robot. We are excited about the future of robotic surgery and eager to continue a standard of excellence that positively impacts patient care.
