Biography:"I enjoy helping people return to more functional and fulfilling lives."Dr. Douglas Federle's interest in orthopedics began while completing his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Universtiy of Cincinnati. Through the university's cooperative education program, he was employed by Ethicon Endosurgery, and participated in surgical instrument design. This ultimately led to his choice of orthopedic surgery as a career, the perfect blend of medicine and engineering. After finishing his undergraduate work, Dr. Federle went on to complete a Master's of Science degree in Aerospace engineering. His thesis work was coordinated through the Noyes-Giannestras Biomechanics Laboratory in Cincinnati. During his time, he studied ligament preservation in total knee replacement design. His research ultimately led to publication in the Journal of Arthroplasty.Upon receiving his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1998, Dr. Federle traveled to Augusta, Georgia to complete his surgical residency at the Medical College of Georgia. Through the medical center's vast referral base and nationally recognized faculty, Dr. Federle gained an in-depth experience in all areas of operative and non-operative orthopedics.Deciding to settle back in the Midwestt, Dr. Federle and his wife Monica chose Columbus for its organized community, gorgeous landscape and small-town appeal. When away from the office, Dr. Federle enjoys time with his family, golfing, building and flying remote controlled aircraft.
