Safety & Quality
At Columbus Regional Hospital our vision is to be the best in the country at everything we do and that includes our commitment to safety and quality.
How do you evaluate quality in healthcare? Healthcare is so complex that there has not been a consistent way to evaluate quality, until now. Now, through the government's Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a national set of quality measures is available to the public which shows how every hospital in the country compares. Columbus Regional Hospital consistently ranks in the top 10% in the country for our clinical quality based on this set of quality measures.
We undergo a rigorous evaluation process for quality and safety and are accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accrediation Program. We are focused on patient safety and our work towards that focus includes improvements in the accuracy of patient information, effectiveness of communication among caregivers, safety of high-alert medications, and effectiveness of clinical alarm systems.
Safety Goals at Columbus Regional Hospital
Patient safety is one of the nation's most pressing healthcare challenges. In the U.S. our healthcare processes and systems are generally very safe, but accident do happen and perfect outcomes are not always achieved. Government agencies, purchasers of group health care, and healthcare providers are working together to make the U.S. healthcare system safer for patients and the public. Our goals include:
1) We continually look for ways to improve all processes to ensure the highest level of safety for every patient.
2) We are interested in learning from patients how we might further improve the care we provide.
3) We continually review the latest research to make sure we provide the most up-to-date treatments that are proven to be effective.
