Columbus Regional Hospital named one of the Most Beautiful Hospitals in America

Columbus -   Columbus Regional Hospital was recently named to the 2011 Most Beautiful Hospital in America list.

CRH is one of 50 hospitals in Soliant Health's third annual Most Beautiful Hospital in America contest. The top 50 hospitals were selected by a panel of experts who narrowed the list from more than 250 nominations based on measures such as architectural style, photogenic properties, landscaping and distinctiveness.

Soliant is now hosting a public online voting contest to name the Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals in America. Voting is open through June 19 at www.soliant.com/hospitals-2011/vote. Voters can vote as many times as they want and the winners will be revealed on July 1.

"We were inspired to create this list by recent data that found 'happy hospitals make happy patients,'" said David Alexander, president of Soliant Health. "As a provider of healthcare professionals for hospitals, we recognize that staff morale and attention to patients' needs are critical to patients' happiness, but the survey also showed that another factor in satisfaction was how the hospital actually looked."

Columbus Regional Hospital was designed by internationally renowned architect and current Dean of the Yale School of Architecture Robert AM Stern. Stern worked with Falick Klein, a Houston-based hospital architecture firm, and transformed CRH and the campus based on healing environment principles.

"Our hospital has been studied by other hospitals as a best practice in healing environments," said Lynne Maguire, CRH vice president of marketing and chief strategy officer. "Our use of natural light, windows, natural materials and organizing around a horizontal pavilion concept all create a truly beautiful environment for our patients, families and staff. We were an early leader in the movement you see in hospital design and construction today."
