Columbus Regional Hospital named among top 3 percent of U.S. hospitals

Columbus -

Columbus Regional Hospital has been named among the top 3 percent of U.S. hospitals.

CRH was named to the HealthStrong(TM) Top 100 Hospitals in the nation list, which identifies the hospitals best prepared for success under healthcare reform. CRH was one of only four Indiana hospitals to make the list.

The rating system, called Hospital Strength Index, is the first hospital ratings system to address the new challenges required by healthcare reform that includes all U.S. acute care hospitals and traditionally unrated rural and critical access hospitals.

The Hospital Strength Index was designed to deliver hospitals a balanced scorecard and comparable rating of their performance as they begin implementing mandates of the 2010 Affordable Care Act.

This Index offers hospital executives, trustees and boards of directors an objective way to measure their relative performance among their competitors and across 56 different performance metrics including market strength, financial strength and value-based strength. (Value-based strength includes quality, outcomes, patient perspectives and cost and charge indicators that are essential for earning rewards under Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Value-based Purchasing reimbursement incentives.)

Thomson Reuters’ Top 100
In March, CRH was named to Thomson Reuters’ 100 Top Hospitals Award list for exceptional organization performance. The 100 Top Hospital award identifies the highest performing acute care hospitals in the nation. CRH was one of only six Indiana hospitals to make the list.
