Columbus Regional Health and Cigna Healthcare Reach Coverage Agreement

Columbus Regional Health (Columbus Regional Hospital and Columbus Regional Health Physicians, LLC) is pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Cigna Healthcare. Columbus Regional Health is in network with Cigna commercial medical plans.

Earlier this week, Cigna agreed to fair terms and rates for Columbus Regional Health and the services that we offer to our mutual patients. As such, both Cigna and Columbus Regional Health have agreed that no covered Cigna patient will be impacted by the former notice of contract termination. Although it was previously communicated that Columbus Regional Health would transition to out-of-network status with Cigna Healthcare by late June, ongoing discussions have allowed us to extend our contract with the insurance provider, and as a result, all plans and claims will continue to be covered within our network without interruption.

These discussions between medical service providers and payers exemplify how hospitals and healthcare organizations must work tirelessly to advocate for not only our organization but also the patients we serve, ensuring that multiple plans remain in-network.

Despite this negotiation in our favor, it continues to become increasingly challenging to negotiate fair terms with commercial health insurance providers. Insurance delays and denials and administrative burdens continue to add to the cost to collect on the healthcare services we have provided to our patients.

Columbus Regional Health would like to extend our appreciation to our patients and employers for your continued support as we strive to provide exceptional care and medical insurance coverage options to our community.
