Support Groups

Support groups are an excellent source of information and encouragement for people facing life-changing situations. Columbus Regional Hospital hosts a wide range of free support groups to meet the needs of our community. Angels of Hope

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 719 Fifth Street, Columbus - Room 2102.

This is a suport group for families grieving the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss, looking for ways to find hope again. This group meets at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, the first Wednesday of every month from 6:00pm - 7:45pm. This is an open group and no registration is necessary. FREE childcare is provided. Beginning Again

A bereavement support group that helps adults cope with the loss of a loved one. This group meets at the Our Hospice Center, 2626 E. 17th Street, Columbus, every Tuesday from 2:00-3:30 P.M. and 5:30-7:00 P.M. This is an open group and no registration is necessary. Better Breathers

The Better Breathers Club (BBC) is a support group, organized through the Columbus Regional Hospital Lung Institute and the American Lung Association of Indiana, for adults with chronic lung disease. Club members share their experiences, knowledge, ideas and strengths to improve the quality of their lives. Meetings include expert speakers, video presentations and roundtable discussions. Circle of Strength

A support group for cancer patients and survivors hosted by representatives from the CRH Cancer Center. The group provides an opportunity for patients and survivors to come together to share feelings, experiences and challenges. Anyone who is battling cancer, or is a survivor, is welcome to unite with others, learn about coping tactics and explore ways to improve one’s quality of life during and after treatment. The group will also explore a variety of activities including art therapy and yoga. The group meets from 4:00pm - 5:30pm on the first Tuesday of each month. Family Hope and Support Group: For Families Who Have a Loved One Who Is Misusing Opioids

The Family Hope and Support Group is a partnership between Columbus Regional Health and Mill Race Center to provide support to families who have loved ones who are misusing opioids. The group provides education, shares information and resources, and provides support and hope for each other. It also provides an emotionally safe and non-judgmental place where family members can support each other and provide hope for the future. Attendance and personal information shared by attendees is private.

The group meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at Mill Race Center from 5:30pm - 7:00pm. There is no cost to attend. Contact Ray Morris at 812-376-5450 (ext. 5450) or for any questions.

LaLeche League (LLL) Breastfeeding Cafe

A support group for breastfeeding moms that meets the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. Information and support, refreshments and lending library available. Open to expectant mothers, and mothers with babies welcome. This support group is FREE and no registration is required.

Look Good Feel Better

This FREE program is a non-medical, brand-neutral public service program that teaches beauty techniques to people with cancer to help them manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. The program includes lessons on skin and nail care, cosmetics, wigs and turbans, accessories and styling, helping people with cancer to find some normalcy in a life that is by no means normal. The program is open to all women with cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, or other forms of treatment. This program is offered twice a year at the CRH Cancer Center. Multiple Sclerosis Support Group

This group provides a time for sharing, education and support for multiple sclerosis patients, their families and friends. Dates and times vary. For more information, call 812-376-5864.

Nurse n’Chat

Nurse n’ Chat meets every Tuesday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Mothering Essentials on 424 Washington St. Suite 9, Columbus, Indiana. Nurse n’ Chat is an opportunity to weigh baby, talk to a lactation consultant and meet other pregnant and nursing moms in a comfortable setting. This program is free and no registration is required. Ostomy Support Group
