Columbus Regional Health Increasing Care Capacity

Columbus Regional Hospital exterior.

Columbus Regional Health is pleased to resume standard operations in many services and departments including surgical services, screening and diagnostic procedures, and other outpatient therapies and treatments.

This careful and calculated phased approach will be conducted under heightened conditions designed to continue to preserve and protect the safe, effective, and efficient care of our patients, safety of our workforce and facilities, and experience for our patients and community.

CRH has begun contacting patients regarding medical procedures or services that may have been delayed under the Governor’s previous executive order for hospitals and health systems to suspend non-urgent and elective procedures.

If you have an upcoming appointment or procedure that was either delayed due to the executive order or has yet to occur, you will be contacted by our medical staff.

We can assure you that any service you receive throughout our organization will meet the high standards of safety you come to expect from Columbus Regional Health.

In response to COVID-19, our procedures for security and safety greatly expanded and those efforts will continue:

  • Environmental Services staff works around the clock to maintain a clean environment with enhanced, stringent sanitization protocols.
  • Protective Services officers conduct regular rounds to ensure safe and secure ways for patients to receive care.
  • Screening assessments, including temperature readings, are mandatory for anyone who enters our facilities including workforce members.
  • Sufficient supplies of personal protective equipment for our staff, as well as masking efforts for anyone in our facilities, are continually monitored and updated.
  • Visitor restrictions remain for anyone not under special circumstances, which include end-of-life situations, essential patient caregivers, and birthing partners.

Lastly, our community’s fight against coronavirus continues. Columbus Regional Health wishes to thank our community for its diligent efforts to slow the spread of the virus by adhering to shelter-in-place orders, practicing physical distancing, limiting public exposure, and masking.

Thank you for making a difference! Please remember, the virus is still very prevalent in our area. As there is no vaccine, and still limited testing capabilities locally and nationally, the best defense we have to keep the spread at bay is to practice physical distancing and mask-wearing in public.

Please read the following list of frequently asked questions for further information on the measures we are taking as we reopen certain services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is it safe for me to come into the hospital or Columbus Regional Health practices?

A: Yes, CRH is working hard to ensure a safe and clean environment for our patients and staff. With masks, distancing when available and extra cleaning, we also ask you to do your part. You will be given detailed instructions before your appointment on how the hospital or particular office is structuring these appointments: what time to arrive, how to check in, how to enter with your mask on, and where to locate hand sanitizer.

Q: I’d prefer to try to avoid going out now, may I schedule later?

A: Your physician has evaluated and recommended the timing of your appointment with your health in mind. We do ask that when you keep this appointment or procedure, you come directly from home without making additional stops. After your appointment or procedure, please return home directly as well. Any prescriptions can be picked up through drive-through or curbside when they are ready.

Q: Can a preventative screening wait?

A: Your physician has recommended we schedule your screening at this time. Screenings are used to detect issues earlier, which can lead to timely treatment. When it is time for your appointment, we ask that you take the same steps of coming directly to the practice or hospital and returning directly home afterwards. Please also wash your hands just before you leave your house and use sanitizer after you check in.
