CRH Nurse Spotlight: Holly Thibault

Holly Thibault_enewsHolly Thibault has always wanted to help people. As a young girl, when her mother babysat a group of kids, Holly was always right in the middle wanting to make sure everyone was having a good time and to help get things, including Band-Aids when needed. That desire to help people led her to nursing school and to her current role at CRH as a float pool registered nurse on the night shift. Holly works wherever additional nurses are needed. Sometimes she will work in several areas on one night, but often she will stay in one area, including the ICU. “You have to be very flexible. I’m not an expert in one area – I’m kind of a jack-of-all-trades in each role,” she said. Holly has also worked as a charge nurse helping to both care for patients and assign them to rooms and other nurses. Charge nurses also serve as a support system to the nurses on the floor.

A self-described “wallflower kid,” Holly was intentional about becoming a float pool nurse because she wanted to push herself out of her comfort zone. She wanted to build more relationships with people, and being a float pool nurse requires flexibility and a challenge that she likes. “Stress helps us grow stronger personally and professionally,” she said. Holly also enjoys learning from her nursing colleagues. For example, taping an IV might be done differently by each nurse, resulting in more “tricks up your sleeve,” Holly said. “You actually learn all kinds of different ways to do the same thing,” she added.

Living in Columbus, Holly is proud to serve her community by working at Columbus Regional Health. While the last year was especially challenging as she worked most often in the ICU and on 6T and 2G serving patients with COVID, it was the teamwork and support from her fellow nurses that helped her and others get through those challenging times. “There’s a big team everywhere you go,” she said.

We’re glad you chose the CRH team, Holly!
