The DAISY Award

March, 2024 - Jamelyn R. Smith RN CCU

Jamelyn R. Smith RN CCU.

Please share your story of why your nurse is so special:

“My father was initially seen in the ER and was then admitted to 4T. He began rapidly declining to the point of becoming unresponsive. He was then transferred quickly to the ICU and the care there was amazing!

I have been in healthcare for 28 years and have worked in many hospitals. The nurse, Jamie that worked on 3/3/2024 and 3/4/2024 was amazing with my dad and my entire family. Her knowledge of his condition as well as his past medical history was over the top.

She addressed some challenging topics; i.e. code status. She allowed the family an easier entry into a serious conversation. She paved the way for a very emotional topic. My father was sad when it was time to transfer to 6T and did not want to leave Jamie’s care. He was very comfortable with her.

She explained things thoroughly and at a level everyone could understand. I know our family was a challenge with daughters who are in the medical and scientific community, and may know enough to be dangerous. She was able to answer our questions and addressed our concerns in a very timely and thorough manner.

We knew we could trust her care and her opinions. She was very open and honest. I knew he was in good hands. She went above and beyond for my dad and my whole family. She always asked if we needed anything and brought chairs in so we could sit with him. We are very fortunate to have met her!"
