“Being in the operating room isn't always a pleasant time for patients or their families, and most have no idea about the work that is being done behind the double doors. Melissa is a Certified Surgical Technologist and our Ortho/Spine Service Leader. She is the unseen or noticed face that patients are at their truly most vulnerable place with. Melissa is skilled, knowledgeable, and a true asset to our surgeons and our patients. When she isn't assisting at the surgical field, Melissa is coordinating upcoming procedures, working with vendors, purchasing, and surgeons to bring in new supplies and equipment, and works to assure the operating room team has everything they need. Melissa also helps educate the operating room staff on new equipment. On top of her everyday work, Melissa is willing to come in anytime to help and is a phone call away to answer questions, Melissa has worked hard to prepare for our newer orthopedic surgeons and to support the department in preparing for them. Despite everything on her plate at work Melissa stays smiling and positive. She is a true example of what a passion for your work looks like.”
