January, 2024 - Sydney Greene, PCT, Nursing Resources

Columbus Regional Health

Sydney Greene PCT NR-Jan 2024 TULIP Honoree.

Please share your story of why this technologist is so special:

"On a shift last week, Sydney was the tech for several of my patients. One of the patients had pulmonary fibrosis and was very sick. She required 7-9 liters of high flow oxygen continuously. With any movement, talking, coughing, etc, her oxygen levels would decrease significantly and it took several minutes for the patient to recover. When this happened, understandably the patient became anxious and this caused her oxygen levels to decrease even further. Sydney was so incredibly attentive to this patient. When her oxygen levels decreased, Sydney would go to the room and stay by the patient's side. Sydney spoke to the patient with so much compassion and understanding. Sydney would not leave the patient's side until the patient was calm and her oxygen levels increased. I was also impressed with a second patient that Sydney helped take care of. The patient was also sick, on several IV antibiotics and was very weak. The patient's wife stayed in the room all night. The patient's wife could be overbearing and demanding at times. Sydney did not let this behavior deter her from taking great care of the patient. Sydney explained everything she was doing to the patient and his wife and remained kind, even when she wasn't always treated kindly. I am incredibly proud of the care Sydney gave these patients!"
