Service Award Spotlight: Marcie Huesman, Imaging Services Associate

Prior to starting her 45-year career at CRH, Marcie Huesman volunteered as a candy striper at the Hospital. She received an award for achieving the most volunteer hours over a two-year period. After graduating from high school, she joined the organization as a nurse’s aide. While working as a nurse’s aide, Marcie took classes in the former Olive Murphy house and later became a senior nurse’s aide.

Today Marcie is an Imaging Services Associate, which she described as “like a secretary for all the managers and radiologists” in the department. Her work includes taking calls from physicians, uploading/sending images in the cloud, putting together spreadsheets and other documents, and helping with the tumor board meetings for the physicians. She said she has “done all kinds of things in Radiology, aside from being a tech."

Marcie received her 45-year service award this year, and when asked what has kept her at CRH for more than four decades, she said she has really enjoyed her work and has made a lot of friends who have become like family. “We’re one big team, one big family,” she said. She also enjoys seeing patients feel better after not feeling well. Her caring nature is evident to those around her. “Marcie has a big heart! She creates authentic relationships with providers, patients, and staff. She always puts the needs of the patients first,” said Imaging Services Manager Lisa Owens.

When asked about memories she has from her career, Marcie recalled a few: the growth and changes of the Hospital to becoming a health system: from Bartholomew County Hospital to Columbus Regional Hospital, and then Columbus Regional Health. As an employee during the 2008 flood, she was grateful Administration kept employees on the payroll. On a lighter note, she enjoyed when teams put on skits in the Kroot Auditorium and even participated in one as an orthopedic patient. Overall, she is grateful for all the people she has met throughout her career. “I’ve made a lot of good friends for life,” she said.

Outside of work, Marcie likes to read and spend time with friends and family, especially her kids and grandkids. She goes to all of her five grandkids’ sporting events.

Thank you for your 45 years of service, Marcie! We’re so glad you are part of the CRH team!
