Making A Difference By giving generously of their time, talent, and energy, student and adult volunteers at Columbus Regional Health enhance the quality of patient care by complementing the work of staff and physicians.
Volunteer Services offers an inclusive environment and there are opportunities for many to share their unique talents and expertise. Our volunteers provide a valuable service to the health system and are able to meet new friends while making a difference in the lives of others.
We offer a variety of service areas and scheduling opportunities to fit the needs and abilities of most individuals. Join the more than 160 adult and student volunteers who serve weekly and donate more than 20,000 hours every year to help us fulfill our mission.
Ways You Can Help
Volunteers support a variety of service lines in the health system and there are opportunities for clinical, clerical, or supply chain management positions. Our service areas offer a variety of patient facing or behind the scenes roles to suit your preferences!
- Support visitors by providing a smile, an ear to listen, and a helping hand while serving as a liaison between patient families and staff. Serve in areas such as Outpatient Surgery, our Heart and Vascular Center, or the Emergency Department.
- Assist patients and visitors by answering questions, helping to locate hospital services, and guiding visitors to patient rooms by serving as a hospital greeter.
- Assist our support departments with clerical tasks, filing, and special projects.
- Help customers in our CRH Gift Shop by greeting, assisting customers, or running the cash register or support our Gift Shop during store resets, fundraisers, or in the merchandising warehouse
- Serve as an onsite spiritual support or certified pet therapy volunteer to provide spiritual care and emotional support to patients and visitors.
- Get moving and use your hands by serving in our dining attendants, distribution department, or inventory team! You could also join our volunteer work room assembling patient medical charts, IV Kits, and educational packets.

Student Volunteers
Our dedicated high-school and college student volunteers serve in our healthcare system while gaining invaluable exposure to a variety of careers. Whether it’s after school or on weekends, there are many service areas in which students can commit to volunteering! From greeting to our surgery reception waiting room, our dedicated students make a difference. Student applications are accepted during the school year. For students wishing to serve during the summer, please be sure to submit your application and guidance counselor form by the end of the school year!
Student Job Shadowing
Volunteer Services is now facilitating job shadowing for a limited number of high school seniors and college underclassmen on a healthcare pathway. Students can shadow a CRH employee up to 8 hours to immerse themselves in our health system and gain up-close exposure to specialty service lines.
