Biography
Dr. Burdick has been a general surgeon at CRH since 2013, performing breast surgeries, colonoscopies, hernia repairs, and other procedures. More recently, he has focused mostly on breast surgery.
He and fellow Columbus Regional Health General Surgery physician Dr. Madalyn Doublett are part of the Multidisciplinary Breast Health Program at CRH, reviewing all breast cancer cases with a team that includes general surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nursing, pharmacy, and social services staff. This comprehensive program enables patients to see all of the specialists they might need at the same time. Then when they leave the multidisciplinary clinic, they have a comprehensive care plan.
Dr. Burdick truly enjoys helping people and being able to successfully treat breast conditions. “Seeing patients at the postoperative visit, there’s nothing like it – even better is seeing them at their yearly visit. They’ve been cancer-free for five years. Those are the best days ever,” he said.
Dr. Burdick was previously a staff general surgeon at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, serving 50,000 active-duty men, women, and their families. In 2011, he received the Navy Commendation Medal and was also named lieutenant commander of United States Navy Medical Corps.
Dr. Burdick received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and his undergraduate degree from Wabash College.
Dr. Burdick and his wife, dermatologist Laura Burdick, MD, have two daughters. Outside of work, Dr. Burdick’s interests include traveling, hiking, backpacking, and cooking.
