Dr. Dougherty is a lifelong Hoosier who grew up in central Indiana before attending college at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. She attended medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine, where she also completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology and her fellowship in cytopathology.

In her free time, Dr. Dougherty enjoys knitting, baking, board games, and helping out with the cattle on her family's farm.
