From our heart to yours
You may not think much about where you would go for heart care, until you or a family member needs it. Fortunately, you don’t have to travel away from home to get life-saving care.
The Heart and Vascular Center at Columbus Regional Health offers comprehensive care—including heart attack diagnosis and treatment, heart surgery, cardiac procedures, interventional cardiology services, electrophysiology, cardiac rehabilitation and more —right in the region.
“During a heart attack, every second damages the heart, so patients need to get to a hospital that has the staff and technology to open vessel as quickly as possible,” says Jo Anne Castor, BSN, manager of cardiovascular services. “We can do that right here. Taking precious minutes to travel out of the community can put patients’ lives at risk.”
Other factors also set CRH apart from other hospitals. For example:
• CRH is only hospital in the area to offer comprehensive heart care services 24/7.
• CRH has a cardiovascular surgery suite equipped with the advanced technology that allows staff to get lab results immediately in the operating room so they can make critical decisions faster.
• CRH is one of only seven hospitals in Indiana to earn accreditation as a National Chest Pain Center.
• CRH offers care ranging from emergency through wellness services. Our cardiac rehabilitation program helps patients make small changes that can lead to big improvements in their heart health.
Our multidisciplinary team of specialists includes: cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons, cardiac nurses, support teams, etc.
“We really care about our patients and want to do what’s best for them,” says Melinda Hunnicutt, M.D., a cardiologist at CRH. “And we know local physicians, so we’re able to coordinate with them and make sure patients get the follow-up care they need. We have a whole community focusing on helping patients get well.”
