After eight months of construction, Columbus Regional Health's brand-new Hybrid Operating Room suite is ready for patient procedures.
What is a Hybrid OR?
- A Hybrid OR is an operating room suite that is equipped with dedicated advanced medical imaging devices such as fixed C-Arms, CT scanners, or MRI scanners that enable surgeons to perform various minimally-invasive procedures more efficiently and effectively with reduced radiation to patients, staff, and surgeons. Minimally-invasive procedures allow for less pain and quicker recovery times for patients as opposed to open procedures.
What’s unique about our Hybrid OR?
- The CRH Hybrid OR is equipped with the Philips Azurion 7 imaging system, a ceiling mounted C-Arm, that allows surgeons quick and flexible imaging capabilities. The Azurion 7 offers the newest imaging technology available from Philips and is the only system of its kind in this area. The room was designed in conjunction with Stryker Communications, using the Microsoft HoloLens virtual reality technology to enable physicians and staff to visualize the room in a 3D format during the design process. This technology allowed the team to plan for optimal, efficient use of the space prior to the construction phase. The roughly $3.5 million, 2,000-square-foot space opens for patient procedures on Monday, August 27.
