Bereavement Care

The Our Hospice Bereavement Program recognizes grief as a normal response to the loss of a loved one. Professional grief counselors provide education on the grieving process and support in dealing with the often intense emotions of grief.

Services available to both Our Hospice patient families and open to the public include the following - choose a topic and click to see the answer:

Ongoing education and support group for adults coping with the loss of a loved one designed to assist people in their grief process. The small group sessions allow individuals to work through grief at their own pace. Sessions cover a variety of issues including grief vs. mourning, remembering loved ones, role changes, coping with stress, self-care and handling the holidays. The group is available to the loved ones of Our Hospice patients as well as to residents of the community at no cost to participants.

Meets every Tuesday afternoon from 2:00pm – 3:30pm and Tuesday evening from 5:30p to 7:00pm via Zoom. 

Ongoing support group for those who have experienced the death of a child.

Meets the third Tuesday of each month via Zoom from 7 to 8:30pm.

 

A support group for children, ages 5-12, and their family/caregiver(s).  Join others who have also experienced the death of a loved one and share common experiences, learn new ways of coping and utilize in-home activities as additional resources, in between sessions.   

The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, from 6:00 - 6:30 PM via Zoom.

  • Lending library of grief literature
  • Licensed Social Workers for individual grief counseling as needed
  • Annual Celebration of Life Memorial service

  • Certified Bereavement Specialist available for community presentations

A program available to schools, designed to assist middle and high school students with their grief. Please contact Bereavement Services to discuss.

Annual children's grief camp, for children, ages 5-12 who have lost a loved one to death.  This is held in September at a local campground.  Spend time with our Bereavement Specialist, MSWs and other staff volunteers in interactive play and activities that will provide an environment for sharing, remembering and learning how to incorporate their loss into daily life.
