Bereavement Program

The Our Hospice Bereavement Program recognizes grief as a normal response to the loss of a loved one. Professional grief counselors provide education on the grieving process and support in dealing with the often intense emotions of grief.

Services available to both Our Hospice patient families and open to the public include the following - choose a topic and click to see the answer:

Ongoing education and support group for adults coping with the loss of a loved one designed to assist people in their grief process. The small group sessions allow individuals to work through grief at their own pace. Sessions cover a variety of issues including grief vs. mourning, remembering loved ones, role changes, coping with stress, self-care and handling the holidays. The group is available to the loved ones of Our Hospice patients as well as to residents of the community at no cost to participants.

Meets every Tuesday at the Hospice Center (2626 E. 17th Street, Columbus, IN).

Daytime: 2:00-3:30 PM
Evening: 5:30-7:00 PM

 

Ongoing support group for those who have experienced the death of a child.

Meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Hospice Center.

7:00-8:30 PM

 

A program that meets at participating schools designed to assist middle and high school students with their grief. Please contact Bereavement Services to discuss.

  • Mailings on various grief related topics based on individual needs
  • Lending library of grief literature
  • Professional Bereavement Counselors for individual grief counseling as needed
  • Annual Celebration of Life Memorial service
  • Workshops
  • Referrals to other services
  • Professional Bereavement Counselors available for community presentations
