To facilitate the process, the Trustees have engaged AMN Healthcare | B.E. Smith, a national search firm recognized for their expertise in healthcare executive placement. This comprehensive search will evaluate both internal and external candidates, with the primary goal of identifying a leader who embodies Columbus Regional Health’s mission, vision, and values, and is aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities for a strong future.

Former President & CEO Jim Bickel returned from retirement in the summer of 2025 to assume the interim role upon the departure of his former successor.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to Jim for his willingness to step out of retirement into the Interim President & CEO role these past several months and throughout the upcoming search,” said CRH Board of Trustees Chair Donald Michael. “We look forward to this journey as we seek a top executive who will preserve CRH’s legacy while guiding the organization through the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Throughout the search period, Bickel will continue to lead the organization, ensuring the stability and continuity of CRH’s mission and objectives. The search process is expected to take several months as AMN Healthcare | B.E. Smith and the CRH Board of Trustees carefully consider potential candidates, with the goal of welcoming a new President & CEO around mid-year of 2026.
