Prevent Nagging Running Injuries

Physical therapists often see patients that have allowed their injuries to become chronic in nature. This can occur for a variety of reasons including--weakness, tightness, improper training, avoidance of nagging injuries, and poor shoe wear. Here are a few of the important factors you can control to reduce your chance of those injuries limiting your time away from running.

BRUSH YOUR TEETH TO PREVENT PNEUMONIA AND SEPSIS

Oral Health

One in every four hospital acquired infections is pneumonia and pneumonia is the leading cause of sepsis. Germs in your mouth replicate five times in 24 hours. Brushing your teeth regularly can help to prevent pneumonia and sepsis.

According to the Global Sepsis Alliance, sepsis is the leading cause of death following an infection, but with early detection and proper treatment, deadly consequences can be diminished.

  • CRH Offering Two Important Health Screening Opportunities

    On Oct. 28, Columbus Regional Health Breast Health Services will offer a free clinical breast screening event for those whose insurance does not cover breast screenings. Also, throughout November, the CRH Lung Care Team is offering low-dose lung scans to anyone who is eligible and hasn’t had a lung scan before.

The formation of the Columbus Regional Hospital Police Department in 2020 has allowed us to have immediate response from law enforcement for workforce members. As part of their work, our Workplace Violence Prevention Committee reviews workplace violence incidents and looks at how to incorporate various scenarios in our training and education for staff.
