Kid-Friendly Staples for the School Year

Bolster your shopping list with these nourishing, kid-friendly foods. Shop for one category, or all three depending on what you need to stock up on.


For busy days, smoothies and snacks that are easy to hand out as kids are heading out the door are winners. Add these items to your list.

Frozen berries, peaches or pineapple
Low-fat yogurt, kefir or milk

Apples, tangerines and bananas
Bags of nut-and-fruit trail mix
Whole-wheat tortillas spread with nut butter
Cartons of milk

Nourishing Nosh

Growing bodies need plenty of calories to keep them fueled (especially if your kids are physically active). Make them count by filling up on healthy proteins and carbohydrates.

Hard-boiled eggs
Nuts, seeds and nut butters
Cheese and yogurt
Chicken, turkey and fish

Whole-wheat bread, cereals and pasta

    On Oct. 28, Columbus Regional Health Breast Health Services will offer a free clinical breast screening event for those whose insurance does not cover breast screenings. Also, throughout November, the CRH Lung Care Team is offering low-dose lung scans to anyone who is eligible and hasn’t had a lung scan before.

The formation of the Columbus Regional Hospital Police Department in 2020 has allowed us to have immediate response from law enforcement for workforce members. As part of their work, our Workplace Violence Prevention Committee reviews workplace violence incidents and looks at how to incorporate various scenarios in our training and education for staff.
