Cancer Screening

Cancer Screening Saves Lives

Early detection through regular cancer screening can significantly improve treatment outcomes. Our Cancer Center offers screening and diagnostic services for several types of cancer, including breast, lung, prostate, gynecological and colorectal cancers.

Many of these screenings are performed through our state-of-the-art Imaging Services department.

Breast Cancer Screening and Risk Assessment

Mammograms are the most effective tool for early detection of breast cancer. Columbus Regional Health offers advanced 3D mammography (tomosynthesis) for clearer, more accurate results—helping identify breast cancer in its earliest stages, when treatment is most effective.

During annual screening mammograms, patients also receive a high-risk assessment. Based on the results of the assessment, some patients may benefit from a consultation and evaluation at our High-Risk Breast Clinic. High-risk management provides personalized care plans, considering individual risk factors, family history, and lifestyle choices. Based on risk level, screening plans may include more frequent, supplemental or enhanced breast cancer screenings in addition to mammograms, such as breast MRI, breast ultrasound and genetic counseling and testing.

Lung Cancer Screening

Low-dose CT scans are a safe and effective way to screen for lung cancer in individuals at higher risk, such as long-term smokers or former smokers. Our lung screening program is designed to catch cancer early—often before symptoms begin.

Prostate Cancer Screening

Prostate screening can help detect signs of prostate cancer in men before symptoms appear. We offer PSA (prostate-specific antigen) testing and guidance on whether screening is right for you based on your age, family history, and other risk factors.

Colorectal Cancer Screening

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers with regular screening. We provide several options, including colonoscopy and stool-based tests, to detect polyps or early-stage cancer. Screening is recommended beginning at age 45 or earlier with certain risk factors.
