Lung Cancer

We provide our patients access to a full range of lung cancer experts. This team includes pulmonologists, oncologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and radiologists working together to provide the very best lung cancer care — close to home.

Advances in technology have allowed physicians the ability to detect lung nodules earlier than ever before via low dose CT lung cancer screening. The earlier lung nodules are detected, the better cancer survival rates.

At Columbus Regional Health, we have an assessment group comprised of five different medical specialties collectively known as the Lung Nodule Review Board.

The Lung Nodule Review Board meets weekly to review lung screening CT scans of patient cases. This gives our patients the advantage of having multiple specialists all working together to provide in-depth knowledge and diagnosis, as well as the best quality care and treatment options available.

Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer typically in its early stages does not have any symptoms. The part of the prostate that has cancer most of the time is away from where the urine passes through.

"Seventy percent of the prostate cancer we see is in what is called the peripheral zone, or the back part of the prostate," said Dr. John Francis of Columbus Regional Health Urology. "This is why historically men would have a digital rectal exam to feel for any nodules concerning for prostate cancer."

Prostate cancer is typically driven by family history and ethnicity. As a man gets older, the chances of prostate cancer become greater.

Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer includes both colon cancer and rectal cancer, which together make up one of the most common cancer diagnoses in both men and women in the United States. At Columbus Regional Health, we take a comprehensive approach to colorectal cancer—starting with early detection through screening and continuing with coordinated care throughout diagnosis and treatment.

Our Endoscopy Center offers advanced screening services, including colonoscopy, which remains the gold standard for detecting polyps and early signs of cancer. We know that coming in for a screening can feel stressful, which is why we’ve designed every part of the experience to be as smooth and comfortable as possible—from convenient parking to easy registration and a caring, expert team.

During a colonoscopy:

  • Small polyps are usually removed during the procedure.
  • If a larger polyp or tumor is found, your doctor may perform a biopsy, removing a small tissue sample to be tested for cancer or precancerous cells.

Whether you need peace of mind or early answers, our screenings are designed to detect issues early—when treatment is most effective.
