Please share your story of why this technologist is so special:

"Neti Redelman, CRH paramedic, saved my life on February 2nd, 2024. That might seem like an overstatement, but after you read why, I think you will agree.

I had gone to the doctor for a sinus infection Friday morning and had just picked up the medicine. Took the dose as I was eating lunch. Within 30 minutes, I later found out, I was in a life-threatening anaphylaxis shock event. After losing consciousness multiple times and hitting my head multiple times, I finally could think clearly enough to activate the “call 911” button on my Apple watch. I live out in the county, so to say I was blessed with multiple guardian angels that day is amazing. My 911 call went out at 1:27pm. The operator asked if I was home alone, I said no that my husband was home but likely outside and he can’t hear me. Please call his cell phone and tell him I’m in the basement. As soon as the 911 operator ended my call, I can hear my husband racing into the house and down the stairs to my side…. followed shortly by a State Trooper (according to Ring cam – entered the house at 1:33p) who heard the 911 call and came to assist. Then a Sheriff arrived as well, followed by Columbus Regional EMS. Neti Redelman, CRH paramedic, quickly assessed my situation, she spoke in a pleasant and unhurried way, she never once instilled any panic in me but rather with the calmness of her words and her reassurances made me feel safe in the midst of a very scary situation. She listened to my lungs and said …your lungs are very tight, we need to get a breathing treatment on you, can you breathe ok – to which I said yes, but I explained that my heart was racing. She keeps reassuring me – I only need you to take slow deep breaths …that’s all I need you to do.

She and her team, who worked so collaboratively together, got me into the Ambulance where I was quickly administered epinephrine, Benadryl and solumedrol. Neti was giving instructions to all ambulance team members in the most concise but supportive way and every once in a while, she would hold my hand and tell me she was so proud of me – that this could have been much worse had I not called 911 when I did.

When we arrived to the ED, she gave the nurses her report of me and left. I didn’t even get her name. Later, when the physician arrived, I could hear the staff talking to him and they gave him the report from the field. I remember him saying that “WOW – that was a great medic – she did everything right” …. sometime later Neti did stop back by, while I was still on breathing treatments. She told me I looked so much better…in that moment I was able to hold her hand, look into her eyes and thank her, oh and ask her name 😊. Not sure if she received that amazing feedback from the emergency doctor or staff, but I wanted her to hear it from me. I honestly think I was in the worst situation of my life, and she saved it.

Funny story, Neti is short for Annette…. which is my name. 😊 Again, guardian angels doing overtime taking care of me on February 2nd 2024. Thank you Neti – I can never repay your skill in taking charge of the situation from your arrival at my house until you left me in the ED’s capable hands. You were calm, kind and reassuring in the information you asked from me and in your interactions with your fellow colleagues. You gave me a great peace in the absolute scariest moment of my entire life. "
