New Treatment and Support Center at CRH

As part of Columbus Regional Health’s commitment to the community’s health, a new Treatment and Support Center (TASC) opened its doors to patients on July 1, 2019.  With the help of a national grant and $2 million pledge from the CRH Foundation, CRH purchased the medical office building on 22nd Street near the intersection with Midway Drive, formerly occupied by Southeastern Indiana Gastroenterology.

CRH and CRH Foundation leadership teams have been working with Ascension Recovery Services, an industry leader in clinical recovery services and program development consulting over the past year to develop TASC.  Together, they have developed an evidence based program, which includes trauma-informed care and mindfulness-based practices to best serve the patients who are suffering from substance use disorder.

TASC is a voluntary outpatient-based therapeutic treatment program for patients and their loved ones in Bartholomew County and surrounding areas.  Before participating in the program, patients will be screened to determine their level of care and guided toward the more appropriate treatment options.  There will not be detoxing or residential treatment at this facility.  The program participants will have gone through those levels of care with other providers.  Once those patients complete those initial steps, TASC will support them and their loved ones on an outpatient basis. The program consists of comprehensive psychosocial services, including:

  • Individual counseling
  • Group counseling
  • Behavioral health therapies
  • Medication-assisted treatment
  • And family support services

To participate in the TASC program, abstinence from all drugs and alcohol is required.  Patients will be tested for alcohol and drugs very frequently, randomly, and subjectively.  No one who is actively using drugs or alcohol will be permitted to participate in this program.  If a patient tests positive, it is a sign higher care is needed and they will be referred to a facility and assisted with the admissions process into the facility.  Columbus Regional Health Foundation was able to provide the $2 million in support as a result of undesignated support from donors.  Unrestricted gifts allow the Foundation to identify projects for its support that have the greatest need.
