Workforce Spotlight: Sarah Denton, Food Services Manager

Sarah Denton2Food is personal to Sarah Denton, and she believes the role of healthcare food services is very important – not just for our patients, but for our workforce. “It’s our way to provide care and comfort for the staff members and the caregivers as well,” she said. “It’s important to me to provide top-notch care and be a bright spot in everybody’s care.”

Sarah joined Columbus Regional Health as Food Services Manager in February. Prior to joining CRH, she served as Systems Food Services Director for Morrison Healthcare, a nationwide healthcare food services company. She worked in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where she oversaw food services for a five-hospital health system. She has worked in the food services industry for 20 years.

Over the last month, Sarah has enjoyed getting to know her staff on a personal level, and vice-versa. “The people I work with in my department are really compassionate. They understand their role and why they’re here,” Sarah said. “It’s been a great fit so far.” She is grateful for Dean Roth’s interim leadership role as food services manager before she assumed the position. “He has just been a fantastic resource and support person for my whole department,” she said.

In her role, Sarah is hoping to lead the Food Services team to offer healthy and unique options in the cafeteria, to be innovative, and to keep on top of the latest food trends. The cafeteria will soon have more snack options, and they recently reintroduced the salad bar. “We’re starting to bring more and more back,” she added. “A hospital runs on coffee and sleep, so we want to make sure we have some of those things available.”

Outside of work, Sarah is married and has two children. She and her family recently moved to Columbus from Owensboro, Kentucky. They like to spend as much time outside as possible. “We are very outdoorsy people and getting all the Vitamin D that we can,” she said.

Welcome to CRH, Sarah! We’re excited to have you be part of the organization!
