Did you know that cycling promotes multiple aspects of physical, mental and environmental health? Like many forms of physical exercise, cycling improves cardiovascular and musculoskeletal health and is fairly low-impact, making it a good option for protecting joints.

But bike riding is good the brain and soul as well. Riding, especially outdoors, allows the participate to enjoy physical fitness while soaking in the sun and natural light and surroundings of nature, creating a boost of natural endorphins, which make us feel happy and content. When you're biking, you can feel good about your carbon footprint as well. Considering taking a bike to work, school or other commitments keeps and extra car off the road, and more gas money in your wallet.

Each May, we celebrate the benefits of cycling during Bike Month. Learn more about biking and the celebratory activities associated with this awareness month here.

Want to improve your fitness while making new friends? The CRH Road Bike group is open to all employees, friends, family members…pretty much anyone who likes to ride a bicycle!

All rides include at least three different route lengths (typically around five, 10, and 20 miles). All skill levels are welcome, although most routes include roads with light to moderate traffic. Some of the five-mile routes stick to the People Trail.  The group meets on Tuesday evenings at various locations in the Columbus area that rotate from ride to ride. After each ride, the group typically will eat at a nearby restaurant. Rides depart promptly at 6 p.m. Helmets are mandatory.
